Please review the promulgation letter from Archbishop Thompson:

The Most Reverend Charles C. Thompson Archdiocese of Indianapolis

Dear Catholic Educator,
Enclosed please find a recently-revised edition of our Religion Standards (Preschool - gth Grade) for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. These standards supersede the previous version of 2001 and now become the point of reference for content when teaching the Faith in our parish catechetical programs and Catholic schools.
Standards are an important tool, to be used in conjunction with:
- Print materials that are in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church;
- An assessment strategy that helps improve catechesis each year; and
- Multimedia resources chosen with the guidance of parish catechetical leaders, principals, Archdiocesan offices etc.
Of all resources, though, the catechist herself or himself often has the most memorable impact on learners of various ages. God bless you for saying yes to God's call to teach the Faith!
Please know of my prayers for you as you serve in our parish catechetical programs and Catholic schools. I am confident that these standards will be a user-friendly tool for lesson planning and facilitating catechetical experiences of various sorts. With every best wish and prayer, I remain
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Rev. Charles C. Thompson, DD, JCL
Archbishop of Indianapolis

These standards comprise the content for teaching the Catholic faith in parish catechetical programs and Catholic schools throughout the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Catechists and teachers will find these standards to provide ready-made objectives for lesson plans that guide learning experiences in parish and school settings.
Among the features of this standards resource are the following:
--Due attention has been paid to the process whereby the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops evaluates doctrinal conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). This helps ensure that our standards are accurate and thorough in a developmentally-appropriate way.
--Special attention has been focused on the Christian view of the human person as well as an accurate understanding of human love as articulated in St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body.
--While the standards can be taught in any order, they are arranged according to the four pillars of our Faith as seen in the CCC: Creed, Sacraments, Morality and Prayer. For context, the three phases of salvation history are noted; namely:
- The various stages of Revelation in the Old Testament
- The fulfillment of Revelation in the life and teaching of Jesus
- The history of the Church whose responsibility it is to transmit Revelation to future generations
Special thanks are owed to the Steering Committee and Revision Team who assisted in the revision of our previous standards, helping to arrive at this current resource:
Steering Committee:
Ken Ogorek, Director of Catechesis
Mary McCoy, Superintendent of Catholic Schools
Michelle Radomsky, Assistant Superintendent of Catholic Schools
Jim Wood, Coordinator of Catechetical Resources
Sister Nicolette Etienne, OSB, Theology Teacher, Holy Name Catholic School
Father Kyle Rodden, Pastor, Saint Joseph – Corydon
Maria Cossell, Theology Teacher, Roncalli High School – Indianapolis
Maureen Riley, Parish Catechetical Leader, Saint Mary – Indianapolis
Joe Sheehan, Parish Catechetical Leader, Saint Barnabas – Indianapolis
Amy Wilson, Principal, Saint Roch Catholic School – Indianapolis
Liz Ramos, Principal, Saint Michael-Saint Gabriel School – Indianapolis
Megan Rust, Parish Catechetical Leader, Saint Paul – Tell City
The Revision Team consists of over thirty Catholic educators including teachers, catechists, principals, parish catechetical leaders and priests who assisted our steering committee in drafting revisions to the standards. The team’s work is greatly appreciated.
Catholic educators, as catechists, are both teachers and witnesses. These standards provide the core content of our Catholic faith—to be complemented by the life and witness of all who serve with great dedication in our parish catechetical programs and Catholic schools. May you use this resource faithfully and fruitfully, by God’s grace and mercy, as you strive to make disciples of Jesus—in fulfillment of His command and commission given to all Christians (Matt. 28:18-20)
Note:
Each Standard begins with the words: “Students will…”
Each standard is assigned a number, e.g., PreK.2.3 NT = grade Pre-K, second Pillar-Sacraments, third standard, Jesus & New Testament

PreK - 8vo grado
Arquidiócesis Católica Romana de Indianápolis
© 2021
